Breaking Ground on SKY SQR: A New Era for Box Hill

This Monday, 24th of June, 2024, we celebrated a significant milestone with the groundbreaking of our visionary SKY SQR project in Box Hill. The event was graced by the Mayor of Whitehorse, Cr Denise Massoud, the Deputy Mayor, Andrew Davenport, and councillors Andrew Munroe, Amanda McNeill, and Tina Liu. We were also honoured to have Matt Berg and Dan McLennan from our valued development partner, Local: Residential, Evan Byrne from our esteemed construction partner, Icon, and various project consultants join us.

Mayor of Whitehorse, Cr Denise Massoud, highlighted the project’s potential to drive local development and create a thriving, connected environment: “Today marks the start of construction for Box Hill’s newest multi-use precinct, SKY SQR. Once completed, SKY SQR will feature a central plaza and laneway concept, incorporating urban living residential towers and a vibrant retail and food precinct. This new development will provide residents with a vibrant space to live, work, and play, supporting a thriving Whitehorse community now and into the future.”

Our Managing Director, Jeff Xu, shared his inspiring vision for SKY SQR. Reflecting on our journey, he said: “Eight years ago, we celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for SKY ONE here in Whitehorse City. At that time, I committed to the community that I wasn’t just building a tower; I wanted to build a precinct. Today, I stand here proudly to say that dream is on its way to becoming a reality.”

The Managing Director of ICON, Evan Byrne, delivered a speech highlighting the deep trust and strong relationship established between Icon and Golden Age Group.
